Responsibilities
Summary: The IBDP Coordinator serves as the key facilitator and administrator of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme within the school. They are responsible for overseeing the successful implementation, coordination, and administration of the IBDP curriculum, ensuring compliance with IB standards and maintaining a high-quality educational experience for students and teachers.
Responsibilities:
1. Programme Implementation and Development:
• Lead the implementation and ongoing development of the IBDP curriculum within the school, in accordance with IB guidelines and standards.
• Collaborate with faculty to design and review curriculum, ensuring alignment with IB philosophy, objectives, and assessment criteria.
• Facilitate the integration of IB approaches to teaching and learning, including inquiry-based methodologies, interdisciplinary learning, and approaches to assessment.
2. Coordination and Administration:
• Serve as the primary point of contact for IB-related matters within the school, maintaining effective communication with teachers, students, parents, and external IB organizations.
• Coordinate and manage all aspects of the IBDP, including scheduling, student registration, assessment, and examination procedures.
• Ensure accurate and timely submission of all required documentation, such as internal assessments, predicted grades, and extended essays, to IB authorities.
• Stay abreast of IB updates, guidelines, and changes in policies and communicate relevant information to staff and stakeholders.
3. Professional Development and Support:
• Provide guidance and support to teachers in understanding and implementing the IBDP curriculum effectively.
• Organize and facilitate professional development workshops and training sessions for teachers to enhance their knowledge of IB methodologies, assessment practices, and subject-specific requirements.
• Foster a culture of collaboration and reflection among teachers, encouraging the sharing of best practices and continuous improvement of instructional strategies.
4. Student and Parent Support:
• Serve as a resource for students and parents regarding the IBDP, including academic guidance, university admissions requirements, and career pathways.
• Support students in the completion of the extended essay, CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) projects, and other diploma requirements.
• Collaborate with guidance counselors and teachers to monitor student progress, provide academic and pastoral support, and address individual student needs.
5. Quality Assurance and Assessment:
• Ensure the school's adherence to IB standards, policies, and ethical practices.
• Collaborate with teachers to establish rigorous assessment practices that align with IB assessment criteria.
• Facilitate the moderation and internal assessment processes, ensuring consistency and fairness in grading.
• Monitor and analyze student performance data, identifying trends, areas for improvement, and strategies for enhancing student achievement.
Job Requirements
• A bachelor's degree in economics or a related field. A master's degree or higher is preferred.
• Proven experience in teaching economics, preferably within the IB Diploma Programme or a comparable international curriculum.
• Strong knowledge of economic theories, concepts, and applications, with expertise in both microeconomics and macroeconomics.
• Familiarity with the IB Economics curriculum, assessment practices, and subject-specific requirements.
• Excellent instructional and classroom management skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with students, colleagues, and parents.
• Technological proficiency to integrate educational technologies effectively.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated with the latest developments in economics education.
