Responsibilities
Summary: The Human Resources Head is responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources management within the school. They play a critical role in attracting, developing, and retaining high-quality staff members. The Human Resources Head ensures compliance with employment laws and regulations, implements effective HR policies and procedures, and fosters a positive and inclusive work environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Recruitment and Selection:
• Develop and implement effective recruitment strategies to attract and hire qualified and diverse staff members.
• Coordinate the recruitment process, including job postings, screening applications, conducting interviews, and checking references.
• Collaborate with school administrators and department heads to identify staffing needs and develop job descriptions.
• Ensure adherence to equal opportunity employment practices and promote a diverse and inclusive workforce.
2. Employee Onboarding and Orientation:
• Develop and implement a comprehensive onboarding program for new hires, ensuring a smooth transition into the school community.
• Facilitate the completion of required paperwork, such as employment contracts, background checks, and benefits enrollment.
• Coordinate orientation sessions to familiarize new employees with the school's mission, policies, procedures, and resources.
• Provide ongoing support and guidance to new employees, addressing their questions and facilitating their integration into the school.
3. Performance Management and Development:
• Develop and implement performance management systems, including goal-setting, performance evaluations, and professional development plans.
• Support managers and supervisors in providing feedback, coaching, and mentoring to staff members.
• Coordinate professional development opportunities, workshops, and training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
• Facilitate the identification of staff training needs and collaborate with external providers to deliver relevant training programs.
4. Employee Relations and Conflict Resolution:
• Serve as a trusted resource for employees, providing guidance and support on employee relations matters, including conflicts, grievances, and disciplinary actions.
• Promote a positive and inclusive work culture, addressing concerns, and fostering open communication and collaboration among staff members.
• Conduct investigations into employee complaints or grievances, ensuring fair and impartial resolution in accordance with school policies and employment laws.
• Implement strategies to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
5. Compensation and Benefits:
• Administer the school's compensation and benefits programs, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
• Conduct regular salary reviews, benchmarking against industry standards and ensuring competitive compensation packages.
• Manage employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies.
• Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in compensation and benefits, making recommendations for improvements as necessary.
6. Policy Development and Compliance:
• Develop and maintain HR policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with legal requirements, industry standards, and the school's mission and values.
• Communicate policies and ensure staff understanding and compliance.
• Stay updated on employment laws and regulations, making recommendations for policy revisions as necessary.
• Ensure HR practices and processes comply with applicable labor laws, data protection regulations, and other legal requirements.
7. HR Administration and Record Keeping:
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including personnel files, contracts, and other HR-related documents.
• Oversee HR systems and databases, ensuring data integrity and security.
• Prepare HR reports and analytics for school leadership, including turnover rates, staff demographics, and other relevant metrics.
• Manage HR budget, ensuring efficient utilization of resources.
Job Requirements
• A bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field. A master's degree or professional HR certifications are preferred.
• Proven experience in human resources management, preferably in an educational institution or a similar setting.
• Strong knowledge of HR practices, employment laws, and regulations.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
• Demonstrated experience in recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes.
• Sound understanding of performance management, professional development, and employee engagement strategies.
• Familiarity with compensation and benefits administration.
• Knowledge of HR systems and data management.
• Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
